CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. The Michigan Department of Transportation said Tuesday that a southbound lane of Interstate 275 in Canton Township will be closed until Friday while repairs are made to a large pothole.

MDOT spokesman Rob Morosi said at least eight motorists called in Tuesday to report getting flat tires as a result of the pothole, which is on a bridge just south of Warren Avenue and north of Ford Road.

Morosi said the area had been worked on Monday but that the surrounding area of roadway had now given way.

Sign the Petition

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) recently announced an online petition drive for citizens who are tired of driving on pothole-riddled streets. Although the petition is non-binding and will not change the law, the names of petition signers will be presented to state policymakers to demonstrate the level of support in Michigan for investing in our state’s infrastructure.
