The time has to be now!

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) is entering the most critical time yet in a push for greater investment in Michigan's transportation and infrastructure. With over half the legislature leaving office in December, the MTT will either be successful in the upcoming months or we will face a bleak future and likely years of excuses and inaction.

Due to the success of the May 2010 Transportation Lobby Day, and the critical time ahead, another Lobby Day has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Lansing. Over 400 people attended the May 2010 Lobby Day, and it is imperative that we triple that number on November 30. The event will begin at the Lansing Center at 8:30 a.m, followed by individuallly scheduled meetings with legislators.

We need "all hands on deck" because we are asking our legislators to act on legislation they have postponed for the last six years. In order to demonstrate to them that the individuals they are accountable to are in support of increased transportation funding, they have to be overwhelmed by people in attendance November 30 .

Stay tuned to your e-mail for more details on how you can get involved in this important day, or contact Nicole Cook by calling 517-347-8336 or e-mailing her at nicolecook@mi-ita.com. Nicole is the Outreach Coordinator for the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, which is organizing the Lobby Day in conjunction with other members of the MTT.

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) is a broad-based, bipartisan partnership of business, labor, local government, associations and citizens with the common goal of improving Michigan’s transportation infrastructure. The DriveMI campaign is committed to promoting the development and maintenance of a safe, convenient and efficient transportation network that serves the public, private and economic development needs of Michigan.

Sign the Petition

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) recently announced an online petition drive for citizens who are tired of driving on pothole-riddled streets. Although the petition is non-binding and will not change the law, the names of petition signers will be presented to state policymakers to demonstrate the level of support in Michigan for investing in our state’s infrastructure.
